| The
Birmingham Humanists Library |
|
| The
library contains a large collection of books, which are available
to BH members. The
books were normally kept
in our library book-case at The Friends Meeting House (our usual
meeting place), however, as a result of reorganisation at
the Friends Meeting House - we will not be able to keep our
library book case on the premises after December, 2008. We will
however, continue to hold meetings at the Friends
Meeting House until a suitable alternative venue is available,
where the Library book case can be based.
Please Note:- To avoid closing the library down
during this period it will be temporarily based at my house. To
borrow a book please look at the library lists on this Birmingham
Humanist site by clicking on the menu on the left; Select a book
and then email The
Librarian, Mr. Percy
Lea, with the title and authors name. He will deliver
the book to you at our next meeting. To return a book simply bring
it back at the next meeting.
|
| All the books have been
catalogued into four categories. Please feel free to click each
category to brows the selection. |
- HUMANISM,
AGNOSTICISM & ATHEISM
- RELIGION
- PHILOSOPHY,
POLITICS & SOCIOLOGY
- MISCELLANEOUS

| The
Library Rules |
|
Taking account the very limited time
available during meetings for members to peruse the bookcase, our
borrowing rules are simple. Allowing and expediency.
-
The
library is only available to members when we hold our meetings
at The
Friends Meeting House
venue (which is approximately six times a year).
-
A
member wising to borrow a book must enter the Date, Title,
Author and their personal signature in the record book
provided.
-
No
specific time limit is set for borrowing as our meetings can
be many weeks apart, however when you have finished with a
book please return it for someone else to use.
-
The
Librarian (Mr. Percy Lea) will sign and record the date when
books are returned.
-
Please
be aware of the temporary measures we have had to put into
place for borrowing book.
