Leaving
a Legacy to The Birmingham Humanists
|
As Humanists we believe that this life is the only one we have. We do not believe in the superstitious dogma of ‘a life after death’ in a better place or indeed the utopia that is ‘Heaven’ or the hell that is ‘Hell’.
We have all heard of the saying ‘you can’t take it with you’. Its true and therefore you will ‘leave it behind’. What better resolve than to know today that when you are no longer here, some of what you leave behind can go to helping the Humanist cause.
Birmingham Humanists are a local group. We receive no government funding. We receive no grants or assistance of any kind from any official body. Financial donations and the kind voluntary donation of time and money of Birmingham
Humanist members and supporters funds everything we do. If you would like to make a simple donation, please click
here.
Everyone should make a will. It’s the prudent thing to do to ensure that your final wishes are carried out. If you would like to make a legacy to the Birmingham Humanists as part of your will, do please mention this to your solicitor. We promise you that every penny we receive is independently audited and it all goes to the Humanist cause. Unlike virtually every charity we do not have any percentage splits: 100% of donations goes to progressing the local Humanist cause, its local campaigns and the running of
The Birmingham Humanists group.
There are many types of legacy ranging from money to jewelry to property. We encourage you to leave as much as you can to your family and friends. We ask that, if you can,
please leave a little something for your local Birmingham Humanists group.
If you need help in making this decision you are welcome to contact the committee and meet with us.
To help with wording, your solicitor might find the following wording adaptable when including The Birmingham Humanists in your will: “I give (please insert your legacy here) to The Birmingham Humanists, for it’s general purposes and I declare that the receipt of the Treasurer or other
elected officer of The Birmingham Humanists shall be a full and sufficient discharge for my executors”.
The Birmingham Humanists have, for over 40 years, stood as the local voice of Humanism in the Midlands. A strong voice is needed to oppose the growing threat from ‘Religion’. They are well funded and well ensconced into the very fabric of society: from religious schools to the practices of even our local government bodies. Birmingham Humanists is that local voice. Through your forethought in leaving us a legacy, you can help us carry on our important work.
Thank you. |
